Soft-packaged lithium-ion battery is a liquid lithium-ion battery with a polymer shell, and its structure is packaged in aluminum-plastic film. Soft-packed lithium-ion batteries have many significant advantages over traditional hard-packed lithium-ion batteries.
First, from the perspective of safety performance, soft-packaged lithium-ion batteries show higher safety. The possibility of electrolyte leakage is less, and in the event of a safety hazard, soft-packed batteries will bulge and crack, instead of exploding due to excessive internal pressure like hard-shell batteries.
Secondly, from the perspective of physical properties, soft-packaged lithium-ion batteries have smaller size and lighter weight. Specifically, the weight of soft-packed batteries is 40% lighter than steel-cased lithium batteries of the same capacity, and 20% lighter than aluminum-cased batteries. At the same time, its capacity is 10~15% higher than that of steel-cased batteries of the same size, and 5-10% higher than that of aluminum-cased batteries.
Furthermore, the internal resistance of soft-packaged lithium-ion batteries is small, which helps to reduce the self-power consumption of the battery. According to domestic data, the minimum internal resistance of flexible packaging batteries can be less than 35m, which greatly improves the efficiency of the battery.
In addition, the design of soft-packaged lithium-ion batteries is very flexible, and the shape of the battery can be customized according to customer needs. This flexibility makes soft-packaged batteries widely used in drones, unmanned vehicles, smart robots, portable devices and other devices that require weight and compact space.
However, soft-packaged lithium-ion batteries also have some shortcomings. For example, its battery models are relatively small and may not meet all market needs. At the same time, developing new battery models may also require higher costs.
